What is ZIMRA VAT Interfacing?
ZIMRA VAT Interfacing is a system that allows registered VAT operators in Zimbabwe to interface their fiscal devices with the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) servers. This allows ZIMRA to collect VAT in real time and to verify the accuracy of VAT returns.
Compatibility of the Device.
The ZIMRA VAT Interfacing system is mandatory for all registered VAT operators in Zimbabwe. The system can be used with a variety of fiscal devices, including:
- Point of sale (POS) systems
- Electronic fiscal devices (EFDs)
- Web-based applications
To interface with the ZIMRA VAT Interfacing system, a registered VAT operator must first obtain a Fiscal Registration Number (FRN) from ZIMRA. The FRN is used to identify the operator’s fiscal device and to authenticate the data that is transmitted to ZIMRA.
Once the FRN has been obtained, the operator must configure their fiscal device to interface with the ZIMRA VAT Interfacing system. The configuration process will vary depending on the type of fiscal device that is being used.
What Data is transmitted by a Fiscal Device.
Once the fiscal device has been configured, the operator can start transmitting VAT data to ZIMRA. The data that is transmitted includes:
- Invoice details
- VAT amounts
- Transaction dates
- Customer information
ZIMRA uses the VAT data that is transmitted to verify the accuracy of VAT returns and to collect VAT in real time.
Registered VAT operators, are required to interface your fiscal device with the ZIMRA VAT Interfacing system. The system is designed to make it easier for businesses to comply with VAT obligations. Fiscalisation helps ZIMRA in collecting VAT in a more efficient manner.
